Brett Favre, the Hall of Fame quarterback who played for the Green Bay Packers, is currently under a civil lawsuit for using Mississippi state welfare funds to build a new volleyball arena for the University of Southern Mississippi, the school at which his daughter plays. New texts revealed this week show that Miss. Governor Phil Bryant (2012-2020) facilitated Favre’s quest to receive the money. A text from Favre reads: “Wow, just got off the phone with Phil Bryant! He is on board with us! We will get this done!” In addition, a text from Favre to the leader of the non-profit facilitating the deal reads: “If you were to pay me is there anyway the media can find out where it came from and how much?”
