Explosion kills 21: A bomb in an Afghanistan mosque killed 21 people on Wednesday. The tragedy, which happened during evening prayer, also left at least 33 injured, according to police in Kabul. Mawlawi Amir Mohammad Kabuli, the mosque’s worship leader and a pro-Taliban cleric who ran a school near the mosque, died during the explosion. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack. The Taliban, which assumed control of the country after the U.S. pulled troops from the region in September of 2021, has opposition groups such as the Islamic State, which has carried out multiple attacks on pro-Taliban leaders this year.
