Russia bombs steel plant: Today (Friday) marks 72 days since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24. Moscow has resumed bombing the Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol, while convoys from the UN work to evacuate civilians from the vast complex. Hundreds of people have been rescued thus far, with more operations planned for today. Drone footage from the BBC gives an aerial view of the destruction of the manufacturing facility.

Ukraine counterattacks: The NYTimes reported this week that U.S. intelligence about Moscow’s military locations and movements have been critical in helping Ukraine eliminate up to 12 Russian generals on the front lines. In addition, the WSJ reports that there have been an increasing number of attacks on infrastructure and military sites within Russia’s borders, suggesting possible counter offensive strikes from Ukraine.
