Canada declares state of emergency: PM Justin Trudeau declared a state of emergency on Monday, giving officials more legal power to end the trucker protests in downtown Ottawa. Police have been barricading the downtown zone, along with handing out pamphlets warning of the legal consequences truckers and protestors face if they don’t leave. Specifically, police have begun arresting some of the protest leaders, along with freezing bank accounts (video) of certain truckers and those who donated money to support the efforts. Despite the growing crackdown, hundreds of semi trucks remain in the center of Ottawa.
