Vaccine Mandate: The Supreme Court struck down (6-3) the Biden Administration's proposal that U.S. employers with over 100 employees implement vaccine mandates, ruling it was unconstitutional. The opinion reads, the “OSHA [Occupational Safety and Health Administration] has never before imposed such a mandate. Nor has Congress. Indeed, although Congress has enacted significant legislation addressing the COVID–19 pandemic, it has declined to enact any measure similar to what OSHA has promulgated here.” The high court did uphold the vaccine mandate (5-4) for healthcare workers across the country, which will affect roughly 10.4M people.
More: President Biden said the ruling was “disappointing” and encouraged companies to still issue their own vaccine mandates.
