Breaking: Actor Alec Baldwin shot and killed a crew member after discharging a prop gun while filming a movie yesterday (Thursday). The crew member was 42-year-old Halyna Hutchins, who was transported by helicopter to the hospital but died from injuries. (read more here)

More boosters authorized: The FDA and CDC cleared booster shots from Moderna and J&J on Wednesday, meaning all three of the vaccines approved in the U.S. are now cleared for extra jabs for at least some adults. Additionally, the agencies approved the practice of mixing boosters so that those who received the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine could get a J&J booster shot and vice versa. Any adult that initially received the J&J vaccine is eligible for a booster, while an extra jab for those initially vaccinated with Moderna or Pfizer are limited to seniors (age 65+) or those at high risk.
