Canada elections: PM Justin Trudeau won re-election on Tuesday, yet his Liberal party failed to gain a majority, losing three seats. In other words, the Liberals must work with the Tory Party (conservative) and New Democratic Party to enact legislation. Tuesday was largely seen as a disappointment for Trudeau, who called the snap elections with the hope of winning a parliamentary majority by capitalizing on favorable poll ratings about how he’s managed the pandemic.

Insight: A snap election is one that is called to take place before the scheduled election time to decide a pressing issue.
