Floods in Europe: Over 100 people have died amid massive floods in Germany and Belgium. Residents waited on rooftops as Germany’s government sent helicopters and hundreds of soldiers to rescue them. Minneapolis to hire more police: Eight Minneapolis residents won a lawsuit against the city council last week claiming it violated the city’s charter that requires at least 730 police officers within the city. A Hennepin County Judge ordered Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey to hire at least 61 more officers by June of 2022 in order to meet the threshold. The lawsuit was filed amid a crime spike in Minneapolis following the protests and riots last summer. (video of plaintiff reactions)
