Student suicides in Las Vegas lead officials to reopen schools: The U.S.’ fifth largest school district, Clark County in Las Vegas, Nevada, is bringing more students back for in-person classes after an increased number of suicides in the past year. The district had 18 suicides in 2020 compared to 9 in 2019. Additionally, the school district has seen higher rates of failing grades among multiple student groups.

More: A recent CDC study found that between April and October 2020, the number of mental health-related emergency room visits for children aged 5–11 and 12–17 years increased roughly 24% and 31%, respectively, compared to 2019.
