JUST IN: The U.S. added 638,000 jobs in October, above expectations (530,000). The unemployment rate stood at 6.9%, also above expectations (7.7%).

UK entered its second lockdown on October 21, with PM Boris Johnson announcing a new set of coronavirus lockdowns amid a surge of cases (see daily number of cases, deaths). The restrictions include the closure of non-essential businesses and limits on indoor gatherings (video).
