UK’s Offer for Hong Kong Citizens: PM Boris Johnson said on Wednesday that the UK will allow Hong Kongers who hold British overseas passports to receive renewable 12-month visas to stay and work in the UK, and potentially be put on a path to citizenship. The change could apply to some 3 million people. It comes as Hong Kong’s freedom is being threatened by new national security laws passed by China aimed at subduing the anti-Beijing protests.
