Impeachment Acquittal: President Trump was acquitted on both impeachment charges in the Senate on Wednesday, ending the third impeachment trial in U.S. history. Republican Senator Mitt Romney was the only Republican to join Democrats in voting to convict the president on the first impeachment charge: abuse of power. On Thursday, Trump responded to the acquittal verdict with a speech, saying he “went through hell” during the impeachment process (video).
